If you know stone crabs, you probably know about
Joe's Stone Crab of Miami. Opened in 1913, it's
a legendary dining institution with an international
reputation. Entertainment celebrities, athletes,
politicians, and socialites have beaten a path
to the door of the original humble eatery for decades.
Today, the next generation of restaurants -- Joe's
Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab -- has debuted
in Chicago and Las Vegas.
Richard Melman and Gerard Centioli of Lettuce
Entertain You Enterprises and ICON opened their
first Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
in Chicago on the corner of Grand and Rush in 2000,
then followed with the Las Vegas restaurant at
The Forum Shops in Caesars Palace in late October
2004. (Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises
owns and operates more than 40 restaurants including
Mon Ami Gabi, Eiffel Tower, and Café Ba
Ba Reeba! in Las Vegas.)
Joe's Stone Crab of Miami has made culinary history
for more than 90 years. Original founder Joe Weiss
and his wife, Jennie, discovered stone crab claws
off the Gulf of Mexico. They served platters of
the claws chilled with a signature mustard sauce
at their South Miami Beach establishment, thus
launching a grand tradition.
While the new-generation Joe's in Chicago and
Las Vegas still proudly serve freshly cracked Florida
Stone Crab Claws, their extensive menus also showcase
fresh seafood flown in daily from around the world,
including seasonal specialties such as Madagascar
Shrimp, Nantucket Cape Scallops, Alaskan King Crab,
and Copper River Salmon. Joe's tableside service
of Maine Lobsters, Dover Sole, and Crab Clusters
is conducted flawlessly by tuxedo-clad waiters.
Joe's also is a prime steakhouse known for signature
bone-in steaks, including their huge 16-ounce Bone-In
Filet Mignon. Other house specialties include side
dishes of Grilled Tomatoes, Creamed Spinach, and
Cole Slaw. But save room for a generous slice of
Joe's world famous Key Lime Pie. Cocktails and
after dinner drinks from Joe's full-service bar,
plus a great selection of vintage wines from California,
Oregon, Washington State, Europe and the world
over, enhance the dining experience.
The décor at Joe's in Las Vegas, like the
Chicago restaurant, is sophisticated and elegant.
Guests may request seating in the main dining room
with its grand bar, rich mahogany appointments,
and club-style corner booths of leather and mohair.
But at the Las Vegas property, they also can dine
beneath Caesars' three-story atrium overlooking
a reflection pool in the outdoor-style café.
On the Vegas restaurant's second level is a circular
party room with floor-to-ceiling windows framing
breathtaking views of Caesars Palace, Paris' Eiffel
Tower, and the Strip. There's also a private boardroom
wired with state-of-the-art electronics that's
perfect for power meetings and fine dining. Open
for lunch and dinner daily, Joe's offers late night
dining until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
For seafood and steak aficionados looking for
an exciting and memorable dining experience, Joe's
Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab is sure to
please.
