Chicago, IL (May 4, 2000) - Restaurateurs Richard
Melman and Gerard Centioli announce a partnership between ICON LLC.,
Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc. and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts,
Inc., to develop Krispy Kreme stores in the Pacific Northwest and
in Chicago, IL. |

ICON will develop Krispy Kreme stores in the markets
of Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Anchorage, Alaska; Honolulu,
Hawaii; and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In Chicago, ICON
will open one store in the River North area and one in the suburban
North Shore in a partnership with Sweet Traditions, LLC. The Chicago
area developer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc., Sweet Traditions,
headed by Eric Sigurdson, entered the Chicago market in December 1998
with a Summit, IL store followed by a store in Midlothian in February
2000 and will soon open a location in Southwest Chicago. |

ICON heads, Melman and Centioli, together have
over 59 years of experience in the restaurant business. Melman is
the founder, Chairman and CEO of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises,
Inc., a Chicago-based corporation that owns and licenses over 75 restaurants
nationwide and in Japan. Centioli is a Senior Partner and Senior Vice
President at Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc. and until April
12, 1999 was President and CEO of the Emerging Concepts Division of
Brinker International, Inc. |

Centioli, who is familiar with the Pacific Northwest
having been born and raised in the Seattle area, said, "Krispy Kreme

ICON LLC. was formed in 1999 to establish partnerships
with the expressed purpose of the expansion and development of restaurant
icons. ICON's first project, Joe's Stone Crab, an American seafood
icon, will open in Chicago as Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone
Crab at the corner of Grand and Rush Streets in September 2000. |
