BELLEVUE (November 14, 2001) - The Krispy Kreme opening in
Issaquah on Oct. 30 broke a record — the number of doughnuts
sold in the first week of business at a Krispy Kreme outlet.
The store, the first in Washington state, generated sales of $452,000
in its first week, breaking the record of $369,000 set in Denver,
according to Stan Parker, Krispy Kreme's senior vice president
of marketing.
If customers were strictly buying dozens of donuts, that would
be the equivalent of about 80,860 dozen sold in the first week.
The average first week usually draws $180,000 in sales.
